CatchingART Contemporary Ballet Theatre Inaugural Performance: November 17, 2013 Kay Meek Theatre: West Vancouver
The Platform Society is privileged to be the sponsor of CatchingART Contemporary Ballet Theatre’s inaugural show coming up on November 17th at the Kay Meek Theatre in West Vancouver, BC.
There are few opportunities in Canada that allow young artists to aspire to the dream of dancing as a professional artist. Astrid Sherman — a woman committed to the emerging generation of leaders in the world of dance — is enabling young women to realize this dream through the CatchingART Contemporary Ballet Theatre Aspirant Dance Company.
In its inaugural year, Grade 11 and 12 students who have committed to a career in dance are being challenged by Ms. Sherman to achieve greater heights in their pursuit of the art. Through CatchingArt Contemporary Ballet Theatre, company experience will provide priceless professional learning opportunities and the development of resume performances, confidence and proficiency.
The Platform Society has been created to support just these efforts; one of its primary purposes is to cultivate and create career development opportunities for aspiring young arts professionals. CatchingART Contemporary Ballet Theatre is the embodiment of this goal and, as such, The Platform provides a 50% training scholarship to these young aspiring dancers .
